Bro. Brent Hazelrigg

Brent is a life-long native of Oklahoma, graduating from U.S. Grant High School (Yep… You read that right — “US GRANT!) in south Oklahoma City.  He accepted Jesus Christ into his life as a middle school student while attending Falls Creek in July of 1976 at the age of 15.  Brent earned a degree in Criminal Justice/Political Science from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee and received a Master’s Degree in Religious Education from Southwestern Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX.
Brent understood that God was calling him into Student Ministry while at his home church, Knob Hill Baptist Church in south OKC. In the summer of 1986, Brent followed God’s call when he became the youth director in his home church. In 1987, he was called to be the student minister at the First Baptist Church of Washington, OK. It was there that Brent met the love of his life and soon married Kristi Ann Parker in December, 1990. Kristi was later diagnosed with brain cancer and, after a two-year battle, arrived in heaven in October 2016.  She left behind two amazingly beautiful young daughters, Karson Anne, who was born in 1995 and Allyson Elizabeth, born in 1997.
Brent again followed God’s call to ministry when he accepted the positon of Minister to Students at the First Baptist Church in Seminole, OK. After serving that church for 8 years, the Lord led he and Kristi to be a part of Country Estates Baptist Church in Midwest City, OK, where he has been the youth pastor since September 2001. Recently, his position at CEBC has been expanded to work with college students as well as education ministry responsibilities.
Brent has always been impacted by two life verses from the Bible — John 10:10 and Ephesians 3:20. Both verses reflect the amazing, abundant life that Jesus wants us to experience!  It’s that idea that drives his ministry to students.  It is his hope that students will come to know and love Jesus with all their heart, mind, soul and strength and learn to love their neighbors like they love themselves.  “Love God + Love Others…” — It really is that simple!
